Care & Maintenance for your Thobe.

To preserve the quality and elegance of your thobe, proper care is essential. Follow these simple steps to keep your thobe looking its best for years to come:

Washing

  • Hand wash or delicate cycle: Hand washing is ideal. If using a machine is necessary, choose a delicate cycle with cold water to prevent damage.

  • Separate colours: Wash light and dark colours separately to avoid colour bleeding.

  • Avoid overcrowding: Make sure not to overload the machine, allowing enough space for a proper clean.

Drying

  • Air dry: Hang your thobe on a hanger or clothesline in a shaded area to air dry naturally. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause fading, and never tumble dry as heat can shrink and damage the fabric.

Ironing

  • Iron: Use low to medium heat to prevent burning the fabric.

  • Protect delicate areas: Ideally we suggest you to turn your thobe inside out before ironing, especially when dealing with embroidery or embellishments, and consider using a pressing cloth for extra protection.

  • Steam if dry: If your thobe is fully dry, use a steam iron to gently smooth out wrinkles without damaging the material.

Stain Removal

  • Tackle stains quickly: Apply a mild, non-harsh stain remover as soon as possible. Scrub the stain with a soft brush or cloth, avoiding strong chemicals that could damage the fabric or change its colour.

Storage

  • Hang your thobe: Store your thobe on a padded hanger to maintain its shape and avoid creases. For long-term storage, consider using a garment bag to protect it from dust and insects.

  • Cool, dry place: Keep your thobe in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight.

General Tips

  • Spot clean: If your thobe isn’t visibly dirty, consider spot cleaning or brushing instead of frequent washes, as this helps maintain its colour and fabric quality.

  • Repair minor damages: Check regularly for any loose buttons, threads, or minor tears, and address them immediately to avoid further damage.
